Why Turn Right?

Hey there, friend. I’m glad you’re here. This isn’t just another course, and I’m not here to sugarcoat anything or throw out feel-good advice. Life’s too short for that. Instead, we’re going to have a real conversation about what it means to become a better version of yourself—not for your own glory, but for God’s.

Let me say this up front: This isn’t a self-help course. If you’re looking for quick tips to “boost your confidence” or “feel good about yourself,” you might be in the wrong place. What we’re digging into is deeper than that. It’s about becoming the kind of person God created you to be—disciplined, self-controlled, and self-aware—not so you can shine, but so you can reflect His light in a dark world.

This course is built on Christian principles, straight from God’s Word. Everything we talk about will point back to Him because, honestly, I don’t have much wisdom to offer without His guidance. And here’s the truth: None of this is easy. But then again, when has anything worthwhile ever been easy?

The Foundational Truth

Here’s something we’ve got to settle right away: You can’t do this on your own. None of us can. The world will tell you to “dig deep” and “believe in yourself,” but let me tell you—I’ve tried that, and it doesn’t work. Our strength comes from Christ alone. Without Him, we’re like a car without gas—stuck and going nowhere fast.

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That doesn’t mean you’ll suddenly be able to bench press 300 pounds or ace every challenge life throws at you. It means that when you lean on Him, He’ll give you the strength to persevere, to grow, and to become more like Jesus, one day at a time.

A Personal Story

Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m not some polished guy with all the answers. I’m a 53-year-old man who’s made plenty of mistakes, struggled with more than my fair share of sins, and learned most of my lessons the hard way.

There was a time when discipline and self-control felt like foreign concepts to me. I’d get angry too easily, procrastinate on things that mattered, and ignore the subtle nudges from God that were trying to steer me back on track. But here’s the thing about God: He doesn’t give up on us. Even when I messed up—over and over again—He kept working on me, molding me, and teaching me what it means to live for Him.

I’ll share more of my stories as we go, not because I have it all figured out, but because I want you to know you’re not alone. We’re all a work in progress, and that’s okay.

Setting Expectations

Here’s what you can expect from this journey:

  1. Honesty: I’m not going to sugarcoat things or pretend this is easy. Growth takes work.
  2. Practical Tools: We’ll talk about real-life strategies for building discipline, practicing self-control, and growing in self-awareness.
  3. Biblical Truth: Everything we discuss will be grounded in Scripture because that’s where true wisdom comes from.

And here’s what I’m asking of you: Be patient with yourself. This isn’t about instant change or overnight success. Think of it like planting a garden. You don’t see the fruit right away, but if you keep watering and tending it, growth will come.

A Bigger Purpose

Let me make this clear: This isn’t about becoming a “better you” just so you can feel accomplished or proud. It’s about something so much bigger. Every bit of growth, every victory over sin, every moment of clarity—it’s all meant to glorify God. The better we understand ourselves and live with discipline, the better we can love Him and serve others.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39). That’s what this course is really about—growing in a way that helps you do both of those things better.

My Hope for You

My hope is that as we walk through this together, you’ll see God working in your life in ways you never imagined. Maybe you’ll notice a little more patience where there used to be frustration. Maybe you’ll find the courage to face a weakness you’ve been avoiding. Or maybe, just maybe, you’ll experience the peace that comes from knowing you’re living the way God intended.

Whatever happens, remember this: You’re not walking this road alone. God is with you, guiding and strengthening you every step of the way. And me? I’ll be here too, sharing what I’ve learned and cheering you on.

So, are you ready? Let’s get started.
